Rob Hoff’s love for writing started in Miss Crowe’s second-grade class at Westwood Elementary School in Cincinnati. He wrote a Halloween trick-or-treat story with an alarming twist then followed that up in the spring with a personification of an April 3, 1974 tornado. That’s when he knew he was compelled to write stories. Later that same year, he decided that he wanted to be a writer like Carl Kolchak from The Night Stalker TV movie/series. He remains a Kolchak disciple to this day.
His resolve to write continued during high school in Oldham County, Kentucky, then became more refined during college. He studied English literature during his freshman year at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England, which was a yearlong experience that still factors into his writing today. The college is owned by the University of Evansville, where he graduated with a B.A. in English Literature.
Hoff claims the Ohio River Valley as home—from Maysville, Kentucky to Cincinnati and Louisville to Evansville, Indiana—but also resided for a decade in the lush Northern Neck Peninsula of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia.

His horror novel, Contract with the Lycanthrope, was published in 2019:
“It’s fangtastic, really. I turn the lycanthrope trope loose for a psychedelic romp through backwoods that teem with sorcery, organized crime, and of course, a werewolf or two. The novel has its share of violence, profanity, and counterculture qualities consistent with the horror genre, especially those found in folk and occult horror. Much of my inspiration for this book came from the shapeshifting literature of Carlos Castaneda and the movie Pulp Fiction. It turned into a kind of Welsh Werewolf in Tennessee version of American Werewolf in London.
His paranormal suspense novel Cosmic Egg Rapture was published by Hydra in 2018:
“I call it a work of magic surrealism. There’s nothing else like it that I’ve read, but the story is really just a story about a pair of soulmates who find each other against all odds…with some “egging” on by the artist Salvador Dali.
Cosmic Egg Rapture is the first book in the Eggsquisite Corpse Thriller series. The second is Serpent Egg Rapture.
