While reenacting the role of a Confederate doctor at the Civil War Battle of Cedar Creek, a Richmond surgeon, Charlotte Mallory, is transported back in time to the real battle. When she is captured by the Union cavalry, she agrees to help a Union spy escape from a Confederate prison hospital in exchange for protection of her ancestorís plantation, one of the largest and oldest in Virginia, and the home she occupies in the 21st century. When she finds the spy, Major Braham McCabe, she realizes the only way to save his life is to operate on him in a 21st century hospital. While Braham is recovering, he discovers that Lincoln was assassinated. He must find a way to return to his time to save Lincolnís life. When he does return, the timer starts in a race to stop him from changing United States history. From the Battle of Cedar Creek to the burning of Richmond to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and the trial of the conspirators, Charlotte glows and quivers with life as she risks her heart for a man she cannot risk loving. Her family legacy makes Charlotte a Mallory. Richmond makes her a doctor. Living through the darkest hours and our nationís greatest tragedy makes her Charlotte.
