I've signed up for the October 17-19, 2014 Event. We authors are invited, and from what I understand, will be in the same area as artists. I was wondering if any of our other members will also be there. I would like to meet you. It may not be too late to sign up but the fee for the three day event is $110 and you must have a 10x10 Craft Tent and set up by Thursday 7:00 p.m. October 16. You can go to the website to fill out an application but you must be approved based on certain kinds of criteria, including you must be an author. This is not a flea market-crafts kind of set-up but you will be allowed to sell you books. It will be in the Big Four Station Park just off the the Big Four Bridge. Victor A. Baird Erstwhile Publications' Author of "Railroading on the Wabash Fourth District"

I'd like to see us get more coverage in the advertising next year. I saw virtually nothing reference the Writers Block on the Steamboat Website or in the news or video clips on line. Most of the folks I talked to that walked by our area didn't know anything about our setup, even if they were pleasantly surprised. (It was an excellent location IMO, as many of the folks walking off the bridge came our way.) Many of the folks in my market (older age group) aren't into Facebook. I have proven that in selling most of my production run without it (or large wholesale to retail outlets like Amazon or Barnes & Noble).

This year we're (Steamboat Days Committee) tightening up the fair to where everything is centrally located. Our writers block will be next to the food vendors and artisans. As far as publicity is concerned I have us doing weekly promotions at the Twilight Theater on the Riverstage. The KA's are going to be sponsoring the Itty Bitty Boat Race during Steamboat Days. In order to sell these little rubber boats for the race we're setting up a booth during the Twilight Theaters every Saturday. We will spotlight a different author each Saturday letting the people know about the Writer's Block.
